Founded and led by original frontman\, songwriter\, multi-instrumentalist\, and producer Kurt Neumann\, the band’s catalog consists of generational anthems such as “Good Things\,” You Don’t Get Much\,” “Idaho\,” and “Closer To Free\,” just to name a few. However\, they still reflect the soul and spirit of the modern American experience on their fourteenth full-length offering\, 4 The Last Time. \n“The music of BoDeans has defined much of my life\,” muses Kurt. “I consider myself fortunate to be able to do what I enjoy. I wanted to creatively do something positive for the world instead of just taking from it. So\, this is what I’ve chosen to do with my life. The music was always about the blue-collar dream of a better life\, and it still is.” \nBoDeans emerged out of Waukesha\, WI in 1986 with the seminal debut\, Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams\, produced by T Bone Burnett.  Following Outside Looking In [1987]\, Home [1989]\, and Black and White [1991]\, Go Slow Down [1993] yielded “Closer To Free\,” which famously served as the theme song for the smash hit television series Party of Five. With a sought-after discography\, their music landed hundreds of television and film placements. Meanwhile\, they transformed into a proven live phenomenon by supporting the likes of U2\, Bob Dylan\, Paul Simon\, Tom Petty\, The Pretenders\, and David Bowie in addition to gracing the bills of Farm Aid\, Summerfest\, and ACL. Speaking to the group’s legacy\, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame permanently entrenched BoDeans in the Midwest Artists exhibit. Barry’s blues/rock ensemble includes his former RTZ bandmates Brian Maes on lead vocals and keyboards\, as well as Tim Archibald on bass. Both Maes and Archibald were members of Peter Wolf’s House Party Five\, playing on two of his records and touring the world extensively. The band is rounded out with “Old” Tony DePietro on drums and Mary Beth Maes\, Terri O’Soro and Joanie Cicatelli on background vocals. Expect some favorites like “Smokin” and “Long Time” in their live set\, alongside songs from the new CD as well as tracks from “Full Steam Ahead”\, the 2017 release from Barry Goudreau’s Engine Room. \nProduced by Brian Maes\, “The Road” features songs written by Goudreau\, Maes\, Archibald and DePietro\, with the sole exception of “The Rhythm Won’t Stop”\, penned by Brad Delp and Barry Goudreau. Goudreau calls it “Contemporary classic rock”\, an apt description of songs like “Love Will Lead The Way”\, “Word To The Wise” and the power ballad “Shade”–songs inspired the iconic music of the great rock bands of the 70s and beyond. \nThe Engine Room’s 2017 CD Full Steam Ahead” covers the whole spectrum of blues and rock\, from the stripped down blues of “All Mine” to the all out rock assault of “Need”. A longtime friend of Goudreau’s\, legendary bluesman James Montgomery\, sits in on harp for “Layin’ it Down {In Beantown}.” Barry says “I wanted to look back to the acts of the late sixties and early seventies when they were reinventing the blues in new and exciting ways”. Read more \n \n  \nAbout Johnny A \nThe name ‘Johnny A.’ might not be so mainstream\, but there’s no doubt that it’s synonymous with guitar. \nHis passion began at the age of thirteen\, when he first saw the Beatles in Boston\, followed two years later by an in-person witnessing of Jimi Hendrix. From there\, he was hooked\, getting a cheap beginner guitar to try and play along with his early heroes — which also included Yardbirds icons Eric Clapton\, Jeff Beck\, and Jimmy Page.\nSoon enough\, Johnny A. got it. \nBy the 1970’s\, he was forming bands in the New England area\, drawing attention from several established musicians\, like Derek and the Dominos’ keyboardist Bobby Whitlock and Doug Clifford of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Johnny A. became Music Director of J. Geils Band singer Peter Wolf’s outfit\, coordinating the onstage arrangements\, playing on several tours and co-producing Wolf’s 1996 album\, *Long Line.* What’s more\, he was even asked to join The Yardbirds as their lead guitarist in 2015. \nAll this is to say that Johnny A. has the chops\, and that’s not to mention his prolific solo career. Spanning three full-length albums\, Johnny A. has earned a Grammy Award nomination\, the honor of Boston Music Awards\, “Blues Artist of the Year 2010\,” and a spot in the revered Boston Music Hall of Fame. Ever the restless spirit\, Johnny A. continues to glide across genres effortlessly\, exploring elements of jazz\, soul. This re-creation of the sound\, look and “feel” of an actual Doors concert is so complete\, it never ceases to startle even the seasoned crew. And it starts right away: In the darkened theater\, well before the band has taken the stage\, anticipation runs hot and the chanting for “Jim” begins. Perhaps it is the audiences’ overwhelming desire to experience a true “Resurrection” that fuels the flames.
