SUMMARY:Shadow Riders & No Static
DESCRIPTION:Tributes to The Marshall Tucker Band\n+ The Music of Steely Dan\nSaturday\, March 4 | 8PM \nDoors Open at 7PM \nReserved Seating: $ 19.50 – $15.50\n+$3 Additional Day of Show \nBuy Now \nAbout The Shadow Riders\n \nBruce Marshall took up guitar in 1966 at age 12 when his father gave him his ¾ Kay acoustic. He grew up in a musical household\, both parents and the 4 Marshall children were always singing\, playing guitar and piano and their parents taught them vocal harmony at a young age. Like many of his peers\, seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan was a watershed moment and Bruce absorbed the sounds from that era\, especially vocal groups like The Rascals\, Beach Boys\, Everly Brothers and Buffalo Springfield. When he discovered the likes of Marvin Gaye\, Stevie Wonder\, BB King and Muddy Waters\, Marshall developed a love of soul music and the blues. \nHe turned to music full time about a year out of High School with Whitecap\, his first professional band. The Sudbury MA native honed his craft in juke joints and gin mills for 7 very formative years and about this time started writing his own music. In the early 80’s Bruce Marshall and the Clue emerged\, a five piece band assembled around a batch of original songs Bruce had written that touched on his love of R and B\, Blues and Pop. The band developed a loyal following in NE and hit the road non-stop for most of the decade while headlining the top venues in greater Boston and beyond. The Clue put out a vinyl EP “Prove It” on ATM Records in ’87\, appeared on numerous compilation albums including “Boston Does the Beatles” and shared the stage with James Brown\, Gregg Allman\, Todd Rundgren\, The Beach Boys\, Kenny Loggins\, Orleans and Hot Tuna\, among others. \nBy 1989 Bruce had accepted an invitation to join the Toy Caldwell Band. Toy was the founder\, lead guitarist and primary songwriter for the Marshall Tucker Band\, one of the top groups in the country in the 70’s. Caldwell started the Toy Caldwell Band shortly after leaving Marshall Tucker in ’84 and 5 years later hired Bruce Marshall to sing lead\, play keyboards and guitar. The band toured with Lynyrd Skynyrd\, Charlie Daniels and The Outlaws when they weren’t headlining their own shows and festivals.  During this time the band recorded a Bruce Marshall original “Welcome to the Human Race” with platinum producer Paul Hornsby and it appeared on Marshall’s 2nd release in ’92. \nAbout No Static \n\n\n\nSince 2004 the 10 members of No Static have been performing the music of the band Steely Dan. Over the years Dan lovers young and old have discovered and enjoyed the passion and precision that No Static brings to all of their performances. Appearing at a variety of venues both public and private\, this talented band has earned the admiration and affection of critics and fans alike. \n  \nIndulge your senses in great food and dine at one of our on-site restaurants before the show! SUMMARY:The Fools April Fools Show
DESCRIPTION:w/ Aerochix\nFriday\, March 31 | 8PM \n\nReserved Seating: $28\n+ $3 Additional Day of Show\n \nBUY TICKETS \nABOUT THE FOOLS \nSometime around 1975\, deep in the Home of the Fried Clam\, Ipswich\, Massachusetts\, a really fun bunch of guys who had a band called “The Rhythm A’s” somehow changed and became The Fools. This is their story. \nAll entertainers have a gimmick\, a shtick\, if you will (even if you won’t). The object of a Fools show was to blow real life out of all proportion and morph ‘just another night out to see a band’ into the most fun anyone had ever had — anywhere! Meeting with great success\, it wasn’t long before the lads were masterminding stage trickery\, pratfalls\, skits\, themes\, twisted audience participation\, practical jokes\, paybacks\, big nights and even some colossal events. Then they discovered radio. \nIn 1979 “Psycho Chicken\,” X-rated parody of The Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer\,” exploded over the airwaves of Boston. The boys were so excited they followed up almost at once with another whopping hit — “It’s a Night for Beautiful Girls.” And the guys weren’t the only ones to get excited. EMI Records signed the band and sent them right out to tour the U.S. with The Knack. The tour was a smashing success. Then\, off to Miami to record the victorious debut album “Sold Out.” \nThe 1980’s saw the band through a storybook journey of mounting success and achievement. Adoring fans\, media attention\, the second album “Heavy Mental\,” touring the U.S. with Van Halen\, massive “hometown” shows in Boston\, TV appearances galore\, European Tours with dizzying record sales\, music videos and MTV. Then came the break with EMI. The band\, alone and exhausted\, retired to Cape Cod for a summer and bravely wrote their most successful album\, “World Dance Party.” Fueled by no less than four big radio tunes\, WDP flew out of stores all across the nation. The title track “World Dance Party\,” along with a “Doo Wah Diddy” remake\, “Life Sucks…Then You Die” and “She Makes Me Feel Big” all added up to a blockbuster of an independent release bringing in sales in excess of either 500\,000 or 1\,000\,000 or 2\,000\,000 — depending on which band member you ask. Are they playing it up? (Or playing it down.) \nRecord-breaking radio airplay\, new videos with heavy MTV play\, new releases and constant touring propelled The Fools through the mid-1990’s. Now in the new millenium they’re at it again. Do not miss an opportunity to experience the spectacle and splendor\, the legendary bombast\, yes the shock and the awe — The Fools! \nOpener: Aerochix \n \nIndulge your senses in great food and dine at one of our on-site restaurants before the show!
